LOWER EAST SIDE WALKING TOUR

This East Village and Lower East Side walking tour introduces to you the southeastern neighborhoods of downtown Manhattan. These boroughs used to be a melting pot for European immigrants with a large Jewish immigrant community in the 19th and early 20th century. During the mid-1960s, a new wave of artist and musicians started to settle in this area. It was also the time, when East Village evolved to a separate neighborhood. Still today, these boroughs are stuffed with the most unusual art galleries, bars and clubs, where you can regularly listen to talented musicians of all genres, and restaurants with specialties from all over the world.

Dive with us into the bohemian circus and discover the must-see places of these neighborhoods in just 2.5 hours with your English speaking expert. The perfect walking tour for young and old!

DETAILED TOUR ITINERARY

Your English speaking tour guide will take you from our Midtown office directly to the subway, where we will take the F train to East Broadway station, located right in the heart of the Lower East Side. From there, our Lower East Side walking tour continues up North on Essex Street along the Seward Park and charming brownstones.

During our walk, you will quickly realize how diverse this neighborhood is by its ever changing environment. One moment you are looking from Delancey Street at historic landmarks such as the Williamsburg Bridge and next second you will find yourself surrounded by the best local restaurants you can find in NYC. On our way from Lower East Side to East Village we are going to cross Houston Street.

After crossing Houston Street we are going to arrive in a sub-neighborhood of East Village: Alphabet City. The name derives from its A, B, C and D lettered Avenues. This area is well known for its creative scene, which led to a steadily growing number of especially younger artists and students who are eager to contribute their various talents to this neighborhood.

Our East Village walking tour comes to an end around 6:30 PM at Tompkins Square Park, right in the heart of East Village. Surrounded by many restaurants and bars, you are free to enjoy the rest of the evening in the scenic neighborhood with your loved ones!
