It’s October! Or in other words, it’s ‘Pumpkin Month’. That means: Pumpkin Carving Parties, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Harvest Fests and many more fall-themed events in New York in October 2019!
But let’s not forget about the most important day in October: HALLOWEEN. Be assured that you are just in the right city to experience this spooky spectacle at its best! And not only you can be part of it. Even your pets can show off their scariest costumes at the annual Halloween Dog Parade. So make sure you are prepared. Either by packing a costume or at least a camera with a HUGE memory card. You’ll need it!
If you don’t fancy Halloween that much, don’t worry. There are plenty more epic events in New York in October 2019. One major spectacle you should mark in your calendar is the Columbus Day Parade on October 14, 2019 (which is also the official Columbus Day holiday). This parade is obviously dedicated to the arrival of Columbus in the Americas. Be prepared for a Columbus-themed circus!

Description: The Bronx Zoo transforms into a spooky jungle during the Halloween season. While other guests leave the zoo around 5 PM, you and your friends can stay behind and join the “Spooktacular Night Walk”. Before the group will explore sizzling and whistling critters after sunset, you are invited to a tasty “last meal” pizza dinner provided by the zoo. This is definitely one of the best family events in New York in October 2019.

Description: Halloween in Central Park is something for the whole family. Between 4 PM and 7 PM you can witness the annual Halloween Pumpkin Flotilla on the Harlem Meer. Tip: In case you can’t make it to this event, you should know, that lots of parks in New York City are hosting Halloween themed events. Including the Fort Totten Park in Queens (October 25 & 26, 2019), the Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens (October 26, 2019) and the Prospect Park in Brooklyn (October 26, 2019).

Description: This is the ultimate event in New York in October 2019. The Village Halloween Parade is the world’s largest Halloween parade and only happens once a year!
