Description: You like the festivals? Then this event in New York in August 2019 should be on top of your list. At the annual SummerStage you’ll get the chance to see the music industry’s most promising newcomers and famous bands. Most of the shows are for free and even performances for which you have to buy a ticket, are more than affordable. Shows are being hosted in various parks in NYC and entry is granted on a first come, first served basis. Since the performances are usually popular, we recommend you to arrive early at the venue!

Description: Broadway goes Bryant Park? Yes, you heard right! Bryant Park, located between 5th and 6th Avenue and 40th to 42nd Street, turns into a real Broadway theater! Get ready to experience performances from on and off Broadway shows for which you usually pay a fortune! Upcoming performances on August 1, 8 & 15.

Tip: Bring a blanket so you can enjoy the performances more comfortably. Also, since the event is being held around noon, it might get really hot, so have some water ready and stay hydrated!

Description: Until August 11 you can see the top Shakespeare play “Twelfth Night” in the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. How you can get free tickets? Each day there is a lottery and with a bit of luck, you might win! Another option is to join the standby line in front of the theater at 6PM. If there are still seats available, you might be admitted. Lastly, you can also reserve seats. However, those tickets are supporter tickets and start at $500. We suggest trying your luck by entering the lottery!

What’s included? Each of the nearly 350 participating restaurants offer a minimum of three appetizers and entrée each and two dessert variations. Choose your favorite combination! Description: It’s the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival time of the year when Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens turns into a giant Chinese sports event. For the 29th year in row, 180 teams are coming to the lake to compete against each other in a dragon boat race. What’s a dragon boat you ask? It’s a team paddling boat with the only difference, that for competitions such as the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival, the boats are decorated with traditional Chinese dragon heads and tails! The creative boats and the competition itself are just two reasons why you should stop by this festival. Throughout the whole park, you can enjoy traditional Asian food, music and dance performances and watch many more artists showing off their skills. Ready, set, go – to the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival!

Description: The US Open 2019 is probably one of the best events in New York in August 2019. You don’t need to be a tennis pro to enjoy the US Tennis Open 2019! From August 26 to September 8, 2019, world class tennis players such as Serena Williams and Roger Federer are competing on the courts for the most prestige trophy and prize money ($57 MILLION in 2019!). The championship, founded in 1881, is being held in three stadiums in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, New York: The Arthur Ashe Stadium, the Louis Armstrong Stadium and the Grandstand Stadium. From Round 1 to the Quarterfinals, there are two matches each day – One starting at 11 AM and the other one starting at 7 PM. Semifinals and Finals are at 12 PM and 4 PM. Beware that tickets are sold very quickly, so it’s better to book your seats soon.
